Current Projects

This is an insight into some of the projects that I am currently working on. Some may see the 'light of day' and others won't. I wish I knew which ones would make it before I start!.

Trailer Suspension

A new look at suspension for trailers, box, boat, horse float, caravan etc. The objective is to get rid of the axle between the two wheels. This will accomplish a few things: (1) reduce weight; (2) improve ground clearance; (3) provide for independant suspension; (4) allow for greater design flexibility.

I know this has been done before but to my knowledge, it has never been done well.

Automatic Rotary Table

This is a similar product to the " Division Master " but with some major improvements: (1) 4 times the resolution; (2) will drive upto 4.5 amps per phase; (3) stores up to 8 configurations; (4) fully sealed case - no fan required; (5) 4 line by 20 col LCD display; (6) heaps of expansion capability built in for the future.

This project is working on the bench with a few bugs still to work out. It performs really well and the user interface is the best part of the project. Apart from the LCD display there are only 7 keys and 2 LED indicators. I have put a lot of effort into the user interface so it will be re-useable in future projects.

This unit will be made available in 3 different ways: (1) PCB and overlay purchase from me with free firmware to download and full information for assembling the unit. (2) Partially assembled kit, with the PCB fully assembled and tested and the rest to be assembled. (3) Fully completed unit ready to go.

New type of Pump for the Farm

This pump is wind powered by a heavily modified Savonius wind turbine. The pump will come in a number of sizes - not sure how many yet. The principle is to modify the effecitive stoke of the pump depending on the amount of power available from the wind turbine.

There are no gears or belts - direct drive from the wind turbine making for a low build cost and almost silent operation. The innovation is in the pump design that allows for the direct drive from the wind turbine. By constantly modifying the effective stroke, the pump is able to start at very low wind speed and also extract the maximum available power from the turbine.

This pump is currently under trials at two locations in Victoria.

Battery Charger

Not another battery charger!

This one is different. It is extremely efficent and will charge up to 30 lead acid batteries at once. It is intended for commercial applications.

This charger tracks the battery voltage and modifies the charging profile accordingly. It is modular and expandable from 4 chargers to 30 chargers per unit.

Just the efficency of the unit will justify the purchase through lower running costs.
